Voltas reported weak Q1FY26 results with consolidated total income falling to ₹4,020.65 crores from ₹5,001.27 crores a year ago, a drop of nearly 20%. Net profit plunged to ₹140.61 crores (from ₹335 crores), with EPS at ₹4.25 versus ₹10.10 last year. The Unitary Cooling Products (UCP) segment bore the brunt, with revenue down to ₹2,868 crores and segment EBIT collapsing to ₹104.37 crores from ₹327.02 crores, due to a late, mild summer, high inventory, and a record base from last year. Voltas retained its No. 1 position in room ACs with 17.8% market share, while subsidiary Voltbek posted 33% YoY volume growth. The Engineering Projects segment remained stable with an order book of over ₹6,200 crores. Management called the weakness temporary and expects recovery in the festive season.
The sharp drop in profits and margins is likely to pressure the stock in the near term, though the company's continued market leadership in ACs, strong Voltbek growth, and healthy order book provide some comfort. Investors should watch for festive season demand recovery and margin normalization in coming quarters.
