VRL Logistics reported Q1 FY26 Total Income of ₹751 crore, up 1% year-on-year, while EBITDA jumped 56% YoY to ₹158 crore with margins expanding sharply to 21.1% from 13.7% (740 basis points). Profit After Tax surged 272% YoY to ₹50 crore, driven by deliberate exit from low-margin contracts and aggressive cost rationalization. Tonnage declined 13% YoY to 935K tons but realisation per ton rose 17% to ₹7,852, reflecting a clear shift toward profitable business. Fuel costs dropped to 25.4% of income (from 28.7%) aided by in-house fuel supply rising to 41.5% and lower diesel procurement cost.
Strong margin expansion and PAT growth signal improving earnings quality despite lower volumes, which is likely to be viewed positively by investors. Net debt fell to ₹288 crore from ₹396 crore, reinforcing balance sheet strength and supporting continued shareholder returns.
