Walchandnagar Industries reported its Q1 FY26 results, with total revenues falling sharply to Rs. 5,396 lakhs from Rs. 10,345 lakhs in the same quarter last year — nearly a 48% decline. Revenue from operations dropped to Rs. 4,943 lakhs versus Rs. 7,917 lakhs YoY, hit by timing mismatches in revenue recognition in the Nuclear and PED segments and a temporary lockout at the Satara plant that hurt the Foundry business. Despite this, the company managed to post a positive EBITDA of Rs. 216 lakhs (vs Rs. 1,146 lakhs YoY), though it slipped into a pre-tax loss of Rs. 1,039 lakhs compared to a Rs. 173 lakh loss a year ago. The company reiterated its strategic focus on Defence & Missiles, Nuclear, and Aerospace (the 'DNA' segments) and called the short-term pain part of normal project-based variability.
Shareholders should brace for continued short-term volatility in revenues and profits due to project timing issues and the Satara plant lockout, though management's focus on high-growth Defence, Nuclear, and Aerospace segments could support a longer-term recovery story.
