Websol Energy System has started commercial production of a new 600 MW Mono PERC solar cell manufacturing line (Phase II) at its Falta, West Bengal facility, doubling its total solar cell capacity to 1.2 GW. The expansion was funded entirely through internal accruals, reflecting strong cash flow and a debt-free approach. The company also runs a 550 MW solar module line at the same site, giving it a vertically integrated cell-to-module setup. During commissioning, the existing cell and module lines were shut down for about 8 days, leading to a one-time hit to Q2 FY2026 revenue, but operations have since resumed. Management highlighted a multi-gigawatt expansion roadmap aligned with India's clean energy push.
Positive for long-term growth as capacity has doubled without adding debt, signalling strong execution. However, investors should note the short-term Q2 FY2026 revenue dip from the 8-day shutdown and watch for ramp-up utilisation in coming quarters.
