West Texas Gas Rises Above Zero for First Time in Four Months

Waha Hub natural gas prices in the Permian Basin settled at 35 cents per MMBtu, ending a record 131-day streak of sub-zero prices. The recovery was driven by hot weather boosting gas-fired power demand, completion of pipeline maintenance, and stronger demand from Mexico, offering relief to US shale producers like Permian Resources and Devon Energy. However, analysts caution prices may not stay consistently positive until additional pipeline capacity enters service later this year.
