Whirlpool of India reported a weak set of numbers for Q2 FY2025-26. Consolidated revenue from operations came in at Rs 1,647 crore, down 3.8% year-on-year, hurt by slowing refrigerator industry growth and market share losses from aggressive competitor pricing. Consolidated profit before tax (PBT) fell 21.6% to Rs 57.5 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) declined 21.9% to Rs 42 crore, with the steeper profit drop blamed on lower revenue and higher E-waste provisions. On a half-year basis, revenue slipped 3.1% to Rs 4,080 crore, PBT fell 5.7% to Rs 254 crore, and PAT dropped 5.5% to Rs 188 crore. The company highlighted that its P4G cost productivity program helped improve gross margin by 50 basis points in the quarter, and its subsidiary Elica PB India continued to perform well.
This is a negative result for shareholders — both top line and bottom line contracted, and management has flagged a tough demand environment ahead of GST 2.0 changes along with intense competition. The stock may see near-term pressure, though cost-saving efforts and the subsidiary's performance offer some cushion.
