Yatra Online Limited has won its tax appeal before the Customs, Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), Chandigarh. The tribunal set aside total duty demands of approximately ₹111.25 crore and penalty demands of approximately ₹39.47 crore against Yatra Online, along with ₹1.99 crore in duty and ₹1.99 crore in penalty against its subsidiary TSI Yatra Pvt. Ltd. All three appeals were allowed in full, with the lower authority orders quashed entirely. Key issues resolved in Yatra's favor include classification of CRS/GDS incentives, treatment of fuel surcharge, and abatement claims. The company has stated there is no material adverse financial impact, and instead the order provides significant relief on long-standing tax litigations.
This is a major positive for shareholders — roughly ₹154 crore in potential tax and penalty liabilities has been wiped out, removing a significant overhang on the stock and strengthening the company's balance sheet position.
