Zuari Industries, a member of the U.P. Sugar Mills Association, has received an interim order from the Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) dated 30 July 2025. The court granted interim relief in a writ petition challenging the Uttar Pradesh government's reinstatement of export fees on denatured alcohol, which the company had been asked to pay retrospectively from FY 2018-19 onwards. Under the interim order, distilleries (including Zuari's) can continue to move industrial alcohol by truck, provided they maintain proper records and submit indemnity bonds.
