Zydus Wellness's wholly owned subsidiary ZWPL had received a GST demand of ₹56.33 crores (plus interest and penalty) from the DGGI, Surat, through an Order-in-Original dated September 30, 2025. ZWPL challenged this order by filing a writ petition before the Gujarat High Court. On January 9, 2026, the Court granted ad-interim relief, restraining any further proceedings on the said order. The demand relates to the pre-acquisition period (before January 30, 2019), and the company has stated that the full liability is indemnified by the seller, Heinz Italia S.P.A.
