The NCLT Allahabad bench approved the Resolution Plan for debt-laden Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL) on March 17, 2026, which was submitted by Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. The approved plan allows AEL to nominate one or more 'Implementing Entities' to acquire specific assets from JAL. Adani Ports has expressed in-principle interest in becoming one such Implementing Entity, either directly or through subsidiaries Karnavati Aviation Private Limited and Mandhata Build Estate Limited. The assets APSEZL is interested in include aviation assets and indirect control over Kanpur Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, which holds industrial and commercial land in Kanpur. The move is still subject to necessary regulatory and other approvals.
This signals a potential diversification move by Adani Ports into aviation-related assets and fertilizer/real estate holdings through a low-cost insolvency acquisition route. For shareholders, it could expand the company's business footprint if the deal goes through, but execution risk, approval uncertainties, and integration challenges remain. In the near term, the stock may see positive sentiment as it reflects the Adani group's aggressive asset acquisition strategy.
