AU Small Finance Bank filed its Q1 FY26 investor presentation on July 19, 2025. Deposits grew a strong 31% YoY to ₹1,27,696 Cr (vs sector ~10.1%), while the loan portfolio grew 18% YoY to ₹1,17,624 Cr. PAT rose 16% YoY to ₹581 Cr with EPS up 15% to ₹7.8, delivering RoA of 1.5% and RoE of 13.3%. However, NIM declined ~38 bps to 5.4% on lower asset/investment yields and excess liquidity, and GNPA rose to 2.47% (from 2.28% in Q4 FY25) with credit cost at 0.34%. Other income jumped 59% YoY driven by treasury gains, and the cost-to-income ratio improved to 54% from 60.8%. Management noted the RBI evaluation for a Universal Banking License is in progress.
Mixed quarter for shareholders — top-line growth and deposit mobilization significantly outpaced the banking sector, but margin compression and rising slippage rates (especially in MFI and South-based mortgages) are near-term concerns. The ongoing Universal Banking License review remains a key strategic catalyst that could re-rate the stock if approved.
