Bajaj Finance crossed INR 5 lakh crores AUM milestone, reporting Q4 AUM growth of 22.4% and PAT growth of 26.7%. The company booked 12.9 million loans and added 3.93 million new customers, taking total franchise to 119.3 million. Gold loan portfolio grew 115% to 3.5% of AUM. MSME growth remained muted at 6% due to proactive risk actions but is expected to recover by Q2-Q3 FY27. Credit cost (loan loss to average AUM) came in at 1.65% (revised metric). GNPA improved to 1.01% with provision coverage at 60%. The company revised disclosure treatment for recoveries against written-off loans, impacting reported ratios. ROA was 4.6% and ROE was 20%. Management guided for FY27: AUM growth of 22-24%, new customer addition of 15-17 million, credit cost of 145-160 bps, and NIM marginal moderation. The FinAI transformation is accelerating with 203 AI resources expanding to 363 by June 2027, 600+ autonomous agents to be deployed in FY27, and near-complete AI integration across customer communications.
Strong quarter with clear guidance signals credit cost declining and operating efficiency improving in FY27, though NIM may face minor pressure. The company remains on track for sustained 20%+ ROE and 22-24% AUM growth, supported by AI-driven transformation and improving asset quality trends.
