CARE Ratings has reaffirmed Bank of Baroda's highest credit ratings: CARE AAA with Stable outlook on Tier II bonds (totalling ₹2,900 crore across three instruments) and on proposed Green Infrastructure Bonds worth ₹10,000 crore. The Certificate of Deposit programme was reaffirmed at CARE A1+ and its size was significantly enhanced from ₹20,000 crore to ₹1,10,000 crore. The reaffirmation reflects the bank's majority Government of India ownership (63.97%), comfortable capital adequacy (CAR of 15.29% as of Dec 2025), and improving asset quality (GNPA at 2.04%, NNPA at 0.57%). Net profit for FY25 stood at ₹19,581 crore, up 10% year-on-year, though net interest margin contracted to 2.73% from 2.96%.
This is a neutral-to-positive signal for shareholders. The highest investment-grade rating (AAA) is preserved, supporting the bank's low borrowing costs and capacity to raise funds. The sharp 5.5x expansion of the Certificate of Deposit limit signals strong short-term funding capability, while NIM compression and the bank's net profit dip in 9MFY26 are watchpoints flagged by the rating agency.
