Bank of Baroda has lowered its MCLR across all tenors effective August 12, 2025. Overnight and one-month rates dropped the most, falling 15-35 basis points to 7.95%. The three-month rate fell to 8.35% from 8.50%, while six-month and one-year rates were reduced to 8.65% and 8.80% respectively. This is a broad-based cut in the bank's benchmark lending rate, meaning new loans and renewals linked to MCLR will be priced lower. The move comes amid a general softening in short-term borrowing costs in the banking system.
Lower MCLR is positive for borrowers as it reduces loan EMIs and can boost credit demand, but it may modestly squeeze the bank's net interest margins since lending yields fall. The cut is in line with broader rate easing trends and is not expected to materially alter the stock's near-term trajectory.
