Bank of Baroda has received in-principle approval from the RBI to move its existing Primary Dealer authorization (which handles government securities trading) out of the bank and into a proposed wholly owned subsidiary. The new entity will run the Standalone Primary Dealer Business separately from the bank's main lending and deposit operations. This transfer is still subject to other regulatory approvals and no timeline has been announced. The bank has said it will update exchanges as the matter progresses.
This is a structural reorganization to ringfence the primary dealing business into a dedicated subsidiary, which may improve operational focus and risk management. For shareholders, ownership remains unchanged since it will be a wholly owned entity, so there is no immediate impact on shareholding or dividends.
