Bank of India has informed the stock exchanges about its interest rate revisions effective from 1 April 2026. The Marginal Cost of Fund-based Lending Rate (MCLR) remains unchanged across all tenors, ranging from 7.70% (overnight) to 8.90% (3-year). The Repo-Based Lending Rate (RBLR) also stays the same. The Fixed Rate Spread (FRS) has been revised for tenors of 1 to 5+ years, with rates ranging between 8.75%+CRP and 9.75%+CRP. The Base Rate has been reduced from 10% to 9.50% per annum, applicable from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026.
The 50 basis point cut in the Base Rate could lower borrowing costs for the bank's legacy loan customers, while the MCLR staying unchanged means existing MCLR-linked borrowers see no immediate change. Mixed impact on margins, as cheaper legacy loans may compress spreads slightly, but signals competitive positioning.
