Blue Dart Express has received a notice of demand of Rs. 70,58,98,292 (about Rs. 70.59 crore) from the Income Tax Department under Section 156 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, dated March 30, 2026, for Assessment Year 2018-19. The demand is primarily on account of disallowance of CSR deduction claimed under Section 80G (Rs. 1.68 crore), short credit of advance tax and self-assessment tax, interest levied under Sections 234B and 234C, and adjustment of past refunds. The tax officer issued the order under Section 147 of the IT Act. The company has stated it is evaluating the matter and intends to file an appeal or rectification in due course.
This is a material tax demand of roughly Rs. 70.59 crore, which could create a short-term overhang on the stock if the company is required to pay before appeal outcomes. However, the company has the option to contest it, and the actual financial hit will depend on the appeal/rectification process.
