Central Bank of India reported strong Q1 FY26 results with net profit of Rs. 1,169 crore, one of its highest ever. ROA improved to 1.02% (from 0.82% YoY) and ROE rose to 14.17%. Asset quality strengthened significantly with gross NPA falling to 3.13% and net NPA to 0.49%, while slippage ratio stayed low at 0.35%. NIM stood at 3.16% and cost-to-income ratio improved to 55.43%. Total business grew 10.84% to Rs. 7.04 lakh crore, with RAM advances (retail, agri, MSME) up 15.71%, while corporate lending was deliberately moderated to protect margins. CASA deposits crossed the Rs. 2 lakh crore milestone at 46.88% of deposits. The bank has signed shareholder and distribution agreements with Generali for two insurance joint ventures (life and non-life), investing around Rs. 500 crore.
Positive for shareholders — record profitability, sharp improvement in asset quality, and crossed key milestones (ROA above 1%, net NPA below 0.5%). Clear forward guidance on loan growth (14–16% in FY26), NIM (above 3%), and tax regime benefits adds visibility. Likely to support a positive stock reaction.
