Central Bank of India reported Q1 FY25-26 results with net profit of ₹1,169 crore, up 32.84% year-on-year, driven by a 15.6% rise in operating profit and 53.3% jump in non-interest income. Total business grew 10.84% to ₹7,04,485 crore, with deposits up 11.41% to ₹4,28,890 crore and advances up 9.97% to ₹2,75,595 crore. Asset quality improved sharply with gross NPA falling 141 bps to 3.13% and net NPA declining to 0.49% (a key milestone). ROA crossed 1% to reach 1.02% and ROE rose 157 bps to 14.17%, while cost-to-income ratio improved to 55.43%. However, net interest margin compressed 42 bps to 3.16% and CASA ratio fell 231 bps to 46.88%, indicating margin pressure.
Strong profit growth, improved asset quality, and ROA crossing 1% are positive signals for shareholders. However, NIM compression and CASA decline warrant monitoring, though the bank is largely tracking its FY25-26 guidance on most parameters including ROA, cost-to-income, and credit cost.
