Central Bank of India has signed a distribution agreement with SBI Funds Management Limited (SBIFML) to offer SBIFML's mutual fund products to the bank's customers. Through this arrangement, bank customers will get access to a wide range of mutual fund schemes to invest their savings. SBIFML is a joint venture between SBI and AMUNDI (France), manages assets worth ₹12,41,000 crore as of December 2025, and serves around 25 crore investor folios. This is a business partnership aimed at expanding the bank's fee-based income by leveraging its large customer base.
This is a positive operational development that allows the bank to earn distribution fees and commission income without taking on credit risk, potentially boosting non-interest income. For shareholders, it signals efforts to diversify revenue streams beyond traditional lending, though the impact on stock price is likely to be limited in the short term.
