GMR Airports has received a Letter of Award from Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) to upgrade, modernise, finance, operate, manage and maintain Cargo Terminal 1 at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. The concession follows the termination of the previous contract with M/s Celebi in May 2025, after which GMR ran the terminal on an interim basis. The project is structured as a revenue-share model with DIAL for an initial period running up to 2036, with an estimated revenue share of Rs. 340 crore payable to DIAL in the first full year of operations. GMR won this through a competitive bidding process initiated in November 2025. The transaction is classified as a related-party deal but is on an arms-length basis, with promoters having no direct interest beyond their shareholding in both DIAL and GMR.
This is a positive development for GMR Airports as it formalises a long-term revenue stream from a key cargo asset at India's busiest airport, strengthening its airport services portfolio. Shareholders can expect more stable and predictable cargo-related income through 2036, though the Rs. 340 crore figure is what GMR shares with DIAL, not what it earns.
