Gujarat Pipavav Port reported mixed operational performance for FY26. Container volumes declined 3.7% YoY to 668,000 TEUs, with Q4 also down 4% to 165,000 TEUs. Rail-linked container trains handled fell 11% for the year to 1,747 trains. However, Ro Ro (roll-on roll-off) cargo saw strong growth of 40% YoY to 229,000 units, with Q4 up 40% from the prior year quarter. Dry bulk volumes increased 31% to 2.90 million MT, and liquid cargo rose 9% to 1.59 million MT for the full year.
The container volume decline may concern investors focused on throughput growth, though the strong Ro Ro performance and diversification into dry bulk partially offset this. Overall cargo mix is shifting away from containers toward bulk and Ro Ro segments.
