IDFC First Bank reported FY26 total income of Rs 48,422 crore, up 11.3% from Rs 43,523 crore in FY25. Net profit grew 7.3% to Rs 1,636 crore from Rs 1,525 crore. However, Q4 performance was weaker with operating profit declining 41.6% to Rs 1,059 crore from Rs 1,812 crore in Q4 FY25. The bank identified a fraud involving embezzlement of customer deposits at its Chandigarh branch, paying Rs 645.59 crore to affected customers which was charged as an expense. Capital adequacy remains strong at 15.60%. The bank issued new equity shares through preferential allotment to two investors (Currant Sea and Platinum Invictus) and ESOP exercises during the year, increasing share capital. Gross NPA improved to 1.61% from 1.87% and net NPA to 0.48% from 0.53%.
The fraud charge of Rs 645.59 crore significantly impacted Q4 and full-year profitability despite revenue growth. Strong capital adequacy and improving asset quality provide stability, but the fraud incident raises internal control concerns. Share dilution from equity issuances partially offset profit growth.
