Indian Bank announced a change in its Board of Directors. Shri Samir Kumar, Economic Advisor at the Government of India's Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, has been nominated as a Director on the Bank's Board with effect from 13.05.2026. He replaces Shri Alok Pande, who ceased to be a Director of the Bank on the same date at the end of the day. The appointment is made by the Central Government under section 9(3)(b) of the Banking Companies Act, 1970, and will remain valid until further orders. This is a routine Government of India nominee director change in the public sector bank. Shri Samir Kumar confirmed he is not related to other Directors and is not debarred from holding the office by any SEBI order.
This is a routine change in the Board composition of a public sector bank with no material impact on shareholders. Government nominee director changes are standard practice and do not indicate any governance concerns.
