Indian Bank reported strong Q1 FY26 results with net profit rising 23.69% year-on-year to ₹2,973 Cr from ₹2,403 Cr in Q1 FY25. Net Interest Income grew 2.93% to ₹6,359 Cr, while operating profit improved 5.97% to ₹4,770 Cr. Gross advances increased 11.50% YoY to ₹6,01,147 Cr, supported by 15.93% growth in Retail, Agriculture and MSME (RAM) advances. Asset quality strengthened meaningfully — Gross NPAs fell to 3.01% (from 3.77%) and Net NPAs dropped to 0.18% (from 0.39%). Return on Equity improved to 20.26% and Capital Adequacy Ratio stood healthy at 17.80%. EPS rose to ₹88.28 and book value per share grew to ₹448.29.
Robust profit growth, sharper improvement in asset quality, and strong capital buffers are positive for shareholders. Higher EPS and improving return ratios could lend support to the stock, though modest NII growth suggests margin pressures remain a watchpoint.
