IndusInd Bank filed its Q1 FY26 investor presentation reporting sharply weaker earnings. Net profit crashed 72% year-on-year to ₹604 crore and operating profit fell 35% to ₹2,568 crore. Net interest margin compressed 79 basis points YoY to 3.46%, though it recovered 121 bps sequentially from the Q4 FY25 low of 2.25%. Loans declined 4% YoY to ₹3.33 lakh crore and CASA deposits fell 14% YoY to ₹1.25 lakh crore, while total deposits stayed flat at ₹3.97 lakh crore. Asset quality weakened with gross NPA rising to 3.64% (from 3.13% in Q4 FY25) and net NPA at 1.12%, while microfinance NPAs jumped to 16.39%. Capital position remained healthy at 16.63% CRAR, and the bank highlighted strong digital growth with the INDIE app MAUs up 2.6x QoQ.
Shareholders face a deeply disappointing quarter with profit nearly cut to a third, margin compression, and rising microfinance stress, though the sequential recovery in NIM and stable capital adequacy offer some comfort. The stock may remain under pressure near-term given the earnings decline and management transition (MD & CEO Sumant Kathpalia resigned in April 2025).
