IndusInd Bank has launched a Capital Gains Account Scheme (CGAS) that lets customers park long-term capital gains from selling assets like residential property, farmhouses, agricultural land, urban land and SEZ land until they reinvest, helping them claim tax exemptions under the Income-tax Act, 1961. The scheme was authorised by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Capital Gains Account Scheme, 1988. It offers two options: a Type A Savings Account with no minimum balance and flexible access, and a Type B Term Deposit with a minimum of ₹10,000 and higher interest for fixed tenures. The facility is available at non-rural branches for resident individuals, HUFs, non-individual entities and NRIs. IndusInd Bank serves about 42 million customers through 3,120 branches as of December 31, 2025.
This is a new tax-saving deposit product that could help IndusInd attract high-value customers looking to temporarily park sale proceeds from property and other capital assets, modestly supporting deposit growth. It is a product expansion announcement rather than a major financial event, so near-term impact on earnings or share price is limited.
