Jana Small Finance Bank's management, led by MD & CEO Ajay Kanwal and CFO Abhilash Sandur, presented Q4 & FY25 results in an analyst call. The bank reported a PAT of Rs. 501 crores after taking an accelerated provision of Rs. 305 crores, with adjusted PAT of Rs. 779 crores. Assets grew 19%, secured assets surged 40% (now 70% of book), while the MFI/unsecured book shrank 11%. Deposits grew 29% to Rs. 29,120 crores with CD ratio at 93.3%. Gross NPA improved to 2.5% and net NPA stayed below 1%, making the bank eligible to file for a Universal Bank license within 30 days. Capital adequacy strengthened to 20.7% without any capital raise. Cost-to-income ratio worsened to 61.3% from 57.4% due to lower unsecured revenue. FY26 guidance includes 20% AUM growth, 20% deposit growth, 30% PAT growth, ROA of 1.6-2%, ROE of 15-18%, NIM improvement, and cost-to-income back to the 50s. Standout growth segments included gold loans (+237.6%), two-wheeler loans (+105%), affordable housing (+37.8%), and MSME loans (+29.1%).
Positive for shareholders — the bank is on track to become a Universal Bank, asset quality has peaked, secured book is growing strongly, and clear FY26 financial targets were provided. Near-term cost-to-income remains elevated, but management is confident of a recovery driven by NIM expansion, unsecured book stabilization, and operating leverage from prior headcount investments.
