Jana Small Finance Bank reported its unaudited Q1FY26 results (quarter ended June 30, 2025). Total income rose to ₹1,516.15 crores from ₹1,356.07 crores a year earlier, a growth of about 12%, driven mainly by higher interest on advances and treasury income. However, net profit fell sharply to ₹101.93 crores from ₹170.56 crores in Q1FY25, a drop of roughly 40%, while EPS came in at ₹9.69 (basic) versus ₹16.31 last year. The bank changed its accounting treatment for Priority Sector Lending Certificates (PSLC), now amortising them quarterly instead of upfront, which alone reduced this quarter's net profit by ₹52.17 crores, making year-on-year numbers not directly comparable. Asset quality was broadly stable with Net NPA at 0.94%, though Gross NPA edged up to 2.91% from 2.62% a year ago, and Capital Adequacy Ratio stood strong at 19.97%. The Board also approved the 19th AGM to be held on August 29, 2025 via video conferencing.
Revenue growth and strong capital ratios are positives, but the sharp year-on-year fall in profit and a slight rise in Gross NPA may weigh on investor sentiment in the near term. The accounting policy change means reported numbers are not directly comparable to previous quarters, so investors should focus on underlying trends rather than headline YoY profit decline.
