Karnataka Bank submitted its Q1 FY26 investor presentation to the exchanges. Profit After Tax rose 15.86% QoQ to Rs. 292.40 crore, though it declined 26.96% YoY. Net Interest Margin (NIM) contracted to 2.82% from 2.98% in Q4 FY25, while ROA improved to 0.97% and ROE rose to 9.58%. Asset quality weakened with Gross NPA rising 38 bps QoQ to 3.46% and Net NPA at 1.44%, though Provision Coverage Ratio improved to 59.18%. Total deposits stood at Rs. 1,03,242 crore and gross advances at Rs. 74,267 crore. The bank has outlined forward financial targets: NIM of 3.0%-3.3%, ROA of 1.1%-1.2%, NNPA of 1.0%-1.2%, CASA of 30%-32%, and Cost-to-Income of 53%-56%.
Mixed signals for shareholders — sequential profit growth is encouraging, but margin compression, declining CASA, and rising NPAs remain concerns. The explicit multi-period financial targets suggest management is confident in a turnaround, though execution on NIM recovery and asset quality improvement will be closely watched.
