Kotak Mahindra Bank will bring the business of its wholly-owned subsidiary Kotak Mahindra Investments Limited (KMIL) in-house from April 1, 2026, to follow new RBI rules and simplify its group structure. KMIL will stop approving new loans from that date but will continue to collect repayments on its existing loan book. In FY25, KMIL earned about Rs 795 crore in net income and Rs 501 crore in profit, which is roughly 1% and 2.3% of the bank's consolidated figures. The bank has said the impact on its overall turnover, profit, and net worth is not significant.
This is a routine internal reshuffle with no material effect on Kotak Mahindra Bank's consolidated numbers. Shareholders are unlikely to see any meaningful change in the stock's value from this move, though it may bring small efficiency gains over time.
