LIC has informed the exchanges that Shri Sat Pal Bhanoo, an existing Managing Director of the Corporation, has taken over the financial and administrative powers and functions of the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director with effect from June 8, 2025. This additional charge has been assigned on the directions of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance. The arrangement is temporary, lasting up to three months (till September 7, 2025) or until a regular incumbent is appointed, whichever is earlier. Shri Bhanoo is a long-serving LIC insider who joined the Corporation in 1988 as an Assistant Administrative Officer and has held several senior roles including Zonal Manager (I/C) of Central Zone, Bhopal before becoming Managing Director. The disclosure has been made under SEBI Listing Regulations as a change in Key Managerial Personnel.
This is an interim leadership arrangement and not a permanent CEO appointment, so it should not materially affect LIC's operations or shareholder value in the near term. Investors will, however, watch for the appointment of a regular CEO and MD, which will be a more significant event for the stock.
