The Government of India has nominated Shri Sanjay Lohiya, Special Secretary, Department of Financial Services, as a Government Nominee Director on the Board of LIC with effect from May 13, 2026. Shri Lohiya is an IAS Officer of the 1994 batch with experience spanning roles in PMO, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Mines. Ms. Shalini Pandit, Joint Secretary, DFS, has ceased to be the Government Nominee Director and also stepped down from the Executive Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Audit Committee, and Risk Management Committee. This is a routine government nominee change as per powers under Section 4(2)(d) of the LIC Act, 1956.
This board change represents routine governance transition as the government's nominee director has been replaced. It does not signal any change in ownership or management control of LIC, which remains majority-owned by the Government of India.
