Muthoot Finance reported a strong Q1 FY26 with standalone loan AUM reaching a record INR 1,20,031 crores, driven by 40% YoY growth in gold loans (INR 32,272 crores for the year) and a 10% QoQ increase (INR 10,238 crores). Standalone PAT grew 90% YoY to INR 2,046 crores, and the company crossed INR 1 trillion in market capitalization. Subsidiary performance was also robust: Muthoot Home Finance AUM grew 41% YoY to INR 3,096 crores, Muthoot Money AUM reached INR 5,000 crores (202% YoY growth) with 997 branches, and Belstar Microfinance opened 10 new gold loan branches. The yield expanded 100 bps to 19.56%, partly boosted by ~INR 300-400 crores in NPA recovery interest and INR 100 crores from ARC. Management maintained a 9.5% spread guidance, and CRAR remains comfortable at ~22% with no immediate fundraise plans.
Strong quarterly results with record AUM and 90% PAT growth reinforce Muthoot's leadership in gold loans. The spread maintenance guidance and easing credit cycle are positives, but the yield boost includes one-time NPA recovery interest, so underlying margins may normalize. The stock is likely to be viewed positively given the consistent growth trajectory.
