Muthoot Microfin filed its Q1 FY'26 investor presentation showing muted YoY performance. AUM was nearly flat at ₹1,22,528 Mn (-0.3% YoY, -0.8% QoQ) with disbursements declining 19.4% YoY to ₹17,756 Mn due to stricter credit guardrails (CB rejections rose from 32% to 54%). PAT recovered to ₹62 Mn from a loss of ₹4,012 Mn in Q4 FY'25, though down 94.5% YoY. Asset quality remains stressed with GNPA at 4.85% (+275 bps YoY) and NNPA at 1.58%, largely driven by the Karnataka crisis which now shows early signs of recovery. ROA stood at 0.20% and ROE at 0.94%. The company shared FY26 guidance: AUM growth of 5-10%, NIM of 12.4-12.7%, RoA of 0.5-2.0%, and credit cost of 4-6%.
Sequential return to profitability and stabilizing Karnataka collections are positives, but weak YoY numbers and elevated asset quality concerns may keep the stock under pressure. FY26 guidance suggests a gradual recovery rather than a sharp bounce, and investors should watch for further improvement in collection efficiency and credit costs before turning constructive.
