Patel Engineering has informed exchanges about an adverse court order from the Bombay High Court dated July 14, 2025. The court dismissed the company's Section 34 petition that was filed in December 2020 to challenge an arbitration award dated February 1, 2020 in favour of Acron Developers Pvt Ltd. The arbitration award, which arose from a dispute over construction work at the company's Neotown, Bangalore project, had awarded Acron Developers approximately Rs. 26.56 crore along with pendente lite and post-award interest at 18% per annum, plus arbitration costs of around Rs. 3.82 crore. The total exposure could exceed Rs. 30 crore plus interest. The company stated it is reviewing the order and plans to take further legal steps to challenge it as advised by counsel.
Negative for shareholders — the dismissal brings the company closer to a potential payout of over Rs. 30 crore plus 18% interest, though the company intends to pursue further legal remedies which could delay or reduce the final liability. Investors should watch for updates on the next legal step and any provision the company makes for this liability.
