CRISIL Ratings has reaffirmed Poonawalla Fincorp's highest-tier credit ratings across its borrowing instruments. The long-term rating stands at CRISIL AAA/Stable (reaffirmed) with Rs. 15,285 crore of long-term debt, and the short-term rating at CRISIL A1+ (reaffirmed). Non-convertible debentures totaling Rs. 27,400 crore, subordinated debt of Rs. 1,855 crore, and commercial paper of Rs. 7,500 crore all carry AAA/Stable and A1+ ratings respectively. A new rating of CRISIL AA+/Stable has been assigned to Perpetual Bonds of Rs. 1,500 crore, suggesting a fresh borrowing facility.
The reaffirmation of the AAA rating — the highest investment-grade rating — signals strong financial health and low default risk, which is positive for shareholders and supports the company's borrowing cost advantage. The new AA+ rating on perpetual bonds likely reflects an additional capital-raising exercise.
