CARE Ratings has reaffirmed the highest credit rating of 'CARE AAA; Stable' on Poonawalla Fincorp's long-term bank facilities (Rs 27,520 crore), non-convertible debentures (Rs 13,740.90 crore), subordinated debt (Rs 1,860 crore), and market linked debentures. Short-term facilities of Rs 7,500 crore got 'CARE A1+'. A new rating of 'CARE AA+; Stable' was assigned to a fresh perpetual debt instrument of Rs 1,500 crore, while existing perpetual debt of Rs 79.10 crore was reaffirmed. The reaffirmation factors in strong promoter support from the Cyrus Poonawalla group (63.95% stake via Rising Sun Holdings), recent equity infusion of Rs 1,499.98 crore by promoters, AUM growth to Rs 55,017 crore, and improved asset quality (GNPA down to 1.51% in 9MFY26).
This is a positive but stable signal for shareholders. The top-tier AAA rating reaffirmation reflects strong financial health and continued backing from the Cyrus Poonawalla group, supporting low borrowing costs and lending capacity. The new Rs 1,500 crore perpetual debt rating enables further capital raising for business growth.
