Punjab National Bank reported Q4 FY26 net profit of ₹5,225 crore, up 14.4% year-on-year. Operating profit grew 10.7% YoY to ₹7,500 crore. However, Net Interest Income declined 3.5% YoY to ₹10,380 crore. The bank achieved strong asset quality improvement with Gross NPA falling to 2.95% (down 100 bps) and Net NPA at 0.29%. Capital position remained robust with CRAR at 17.74% and CET-1 at 13.62%. Global advances grew 12.7% YoY to ₹12.6 lakh crore, slightly ahead of the 11-12% guidance. Credit cost improved significantly to 0.18% against guidance of below 0.5%. The bank missed NII growth guidance (actual -1.9% vs guided 7%) and NIM came in lower at 2.57% versus 2.8-2.9% target.
Strong profitability growth and improving asset quality are positives, but the NII decline and margin compression raise concerns about net interest income sustainability. The bank meeting most quantitative targets and providing solid FY27 guidance suggests stable outlook.
