Punjab National Bank reported Q4 FY '26 net profit of INR5,225 crores (up 14.4% Y-o-Y) with operating profit at INR7,500 crores. Advances grew 12.7% Y-o-Y to INR12.59 lakh crores, while gross global business reached INR29.7 lakh crores. Asset quality improved significantly with GNPA falling to 2.95% from 3.95%, NNPA to 0.29%, and slippage ratio at 0.60% (well within 1% guidance). Capital adequacy remained robust at 17.74% with CET1 of 13.62%. Management guided for NIM improvement to 2.6%-2.7% for FY '27, citing expected benefits from deposit cost moderation and a strategic shift toward higher-yielding RAM (Retail, Agri, MSME) segments, targeting corporate share reduction from 46-47% to 40%. The bank added 144 branches in FY '26 and plans 250 more, primarily in South and West regions. ECL implementation readiness was confirmed with INR2,045 crores floating provision already created.
The bank demonstrated strong execution across growth, asset quality, and profitability metrics while signaling margin expansion ahead through portfolio rebalancing toward RAM segments. With robust capital cushion and ECL preparedness, the bank appears well-positioned for sustainable growth.
