Punjab National Bank reported a net profit of ₹16,630 crore for FY25, more than doubling from last year (up 101.7% year-on-year), driven by improved asset quality and higher net interest income. Q4 FY25 net profit rose 51.7% to ₹4,567 crore from ₹3,010 crore a year ago. Gross NPAs improved sharply to 3.95% from 5.73%, and net NPAs fell to 0.40% from 0.73%, showing strong recovery in loan quality. Global business grew 14% to ₹26.83 lakh crore, supported by 14% growth in deposits and 13.6% growth in advances. Capital adequacy (CRAR) stood healthy at 17.01%, with RoA improving to 1.02% and RoE to 19.23% in Q4. The revised press release mainly corrects the Jansuraksha Scheme enrollment numbers in the Financial Inclusion section.
Very positive for shareholders — a doubling of annual profit, significant improvement in bad loans, and strong return ratios signal a sharp turnaround in the bank's core performance, which should support investor sentiment and potentially drive the stock higher.
