Punjab & Sind Bank reported its provisional Q1 FY26 business numbers. Total business grew 10.94% year-on-year to Rs. 2,31,129 crore from Rs. 2,08,331 crore a year earlier. Total deposits rose 8.78% YoY to Rs. 1,31,183 crore, while gross advances grew a stronger 13.91% YoY to Rs. 99,946 crore. As a result, the Credit-to-Deposit (CD) ratio improved to 76.19% from 72.76% last year, showing the bank is lending more aggressively relative to its deposit base. The figures are provisional and subject to review by the Central Statutory Auditors.
Healthy double-digit loan growth and an improving CD ratio signal stronger business momentum, which is positive for shareholders. However, investors should wait for the audited quarterly results and watch for margin and asset quality trends before drawing firm conclusions.
