Punjab & Sind Bank reported its highest ever net profit of Rs.1,322 crore for FY26, up 30.12% YoY, driven by robust 18.29% growth in gross advances and 22% growth in core fee income to Rs.759 crore. The bank's total business crossed Rs.2.63 lakh crore with historic 14.94% growth. Asset quality improved significantly with Gross NPA reducing from 3.38% to 2.40% and Net NPA at 0.79%. However, NIM remains under pressure at 2.55% for the year. Management guided that NIM is expected to reach 2.65%-2.70% by end of current fiscal through focus on high-yielding retail, agri and MSME segments. RAM composition now stands at nearly 59% of advances. On ECL implementation, management expects Rs.600-800 crore impact over 5 years which can be absorbed from capital buffer. Management set multi-year targets of reaching Rs.4 lakh crore business by FY29.
Strong performance with record profits and improving asset quality signals operational efficiency gains. The bank's focus on RAM segments and digital transformation initiatives position it for sustained growth. NIM pressure remains a concern but management has provided clear roadmap to improve margins.
