Shriram Pistons & Rings has formally amended its Memorandum of Association to significantly widen its permitted business activities. The change was approved by shareholders through a postal ballot (special resolution) and cleared by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on March 27, 2026. While the core business of pistons, piston rings, and engine components remains, the new Main Object Clause adds a broad range of new activities including electric vehicle (EV) components such as traction motors, PMS and axial flux motors, battery management systems (BMS), e-drive systems, DC-DC converters, and motor controllers. It also includes advanced automotive electronics like ADAS components, radars, lidars, infotainment systems, telematics boxes, and high-pressure die casting parts. The company has also adopted a new MOA format aligned with the Companies Act, 2013.
This is a strategic signal that the company is positioning itself for a major diversification beyond traditional engine parts into EV powertrains, automotive electronics, and precision engineering. For shareholders, this expands the long-term growth runway and opens potential new revenue streams, though actual execution and capex commitments will determine real impact on future earnings.
