SBI's Q2FY26 investor presentation reported a net profit of ₹20,160 crore, up 9.97% year-on-year, including a one-time gain of ₹4,593 crore from the sale of its stake in Yes Bank. Total business crossed ₹100 trillion, with deposits at ₹55.9 lakh crore (+9.27% YoY) and advances at ₹44.2 lakh crore (+12.73% YoY). Asset quality improved sharply with Gross NPA falling to 1.73% and Net NPA to 0.42%, while the Provision Coverage Ratio stood at 75.79%. However, net interest margins came under pressure, declining 17 bps to 2.97% on a whole-bank basis, though the bank remained well-capitalised with a CRAR of 14.62%.
Strong profit growth, healthy credit expansion, and improving asset quality should support investor confidence, though persistent NIM compression remains a key concern. The completed ₹25,000 crore QIP boosts capital headroom for future growth, which is positive for shareholders.
