Ujjivan SFB shared the transcript of its Q4 FY25 earnings call. The bank reported a gross loan book of Rs 32,122 crore, up 8% year-on-year, with the secured portfolio jumping 56% YoY to Rs 13,988 crore, now making up 44% of the book versus 30% a year ago. The bank filed an application with the RBI in February 2025 to transition into a Universal Bank. Full-year profit stood at Rs 726 crore with ROA of 1.6%, ROE of 12.4%, and NIM at 8.8% (down 25 basis points YoY) due to the mix shift toward secured loans. Asset quality held steady with gross NPA at 2.2% and net NPA at 0.5%, while microfinance collection efficiency reached 99.5% in March 2025. Management repeatedly declined to share FY26 guidance on NIM, yields, or credit cost, stating it would provide this alongside the Q1 FY26 results, but indicated NIM would see only a 'small reduction' as cost of funds could fall 25-30 bps.
The continued pivot toward secured lending should support long-term portfolio stability but compress near-term margins. The decision to withhold FY26 guidance may keep the stock range-bound in the near term, though improving microfinance collection trends and the Universal Bank application are positive structural signals for shareholders.
