Union Bank of India shared provisional business numbers ahead of its Q1 FY26 results. Total Business grew 5.01% year-on-year to ₹22.14 lakh crore, while Global Gross Advances rose 6.83% YoY to ₹9.75 lakh crore. Domestic Retail Advances surged 25.60% YoY and Domestic RAM (Retail, Agriculture, MSME) advances grew 10.31% YoY, signalling strong retail lending momentum. Total Deposits grew a modest 3.63% YoY, with low-cost CASA deposits up only 0.92% YoY. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, total business dipped 1.80% and deposits fell 2.54%, though RAM and retail advances continued to expand sequentially. Figures are provisional and subject to limited review by statutory auditors.
Strong retail and RAM loan growth is a positive signal for the bank's core lending franchise, but muted CASA growth and the QoQ dip in overall business may cap near-term investor enthusiasm. Watch the upcoming Q1 results for confirmation and margin/NIM details.
