Union Bank of India reported strong FY25 results, with net profit rising 31.79% year-on-year to Rs. 17,987 crore, while Q4 net profit grew 8.28% quarter-on-quarter to Rs. 4,985 crore. Total business grew 7.82% YoY to Rs. 22.93 lakh crore, supported by 8.62% growth in gross advances and 7.22% growth in deposits to Rs. 13.10 lakh crore. Asset quality improved meaningfully, with gross NPA falling 116 bps to 3.60% and net NPA dropping 40 bps to 0.63%, while capital adequacy strengthened with CRAR rising to 18.02% (from 16.97%) and CET-1 to 14.98%. Returns also improved, with RoA at 1.26% and RoE at 17.20% (up 162 bps). The Board has recommended a dividend of Rs. 4.75 per equity share (47.5% of face value), subject to shareholder and other approvals.
Strong profit growth, healthier asset quality, stronger capital ratios, and a decent dividend payout are positive for shareholders and should be supportive of the stock price. Investors will look to the dividend record date and any management commentary on margins and deposit growth in the coming sessions.
