Tata Group companies lost about $3.2 billion (₹30,222 crore) in combined market value on Friday as investors reacted to a public dispute between Tata Sons and Tata Trusts over a potential RBI-mandated listing of the holding company and the reappointment of Chairman N. Chandrasekaran for a five-year term. Tata Trusts, which owns 66% of Tata Sons, called Chandrasekaran's reappointment illegal and opposed listing plans, exposing a widening governance rift, while second-largest shareholder Shapoorji Pallonji Group backed a potential listing and proposed monetising its 18.4% stake through a buyout worth at least $2.61 billion over 18 months. Tata Chemicals fell 9.57%, TCS slipped 2.98%, and most other group stocks closed lower, reversing prior-session gains.
