Aditya Birla Capital's Board has approved a preferential issue of equity shares worth Rs. 4,000 crore at Rs. 356.02 per share. The allotment is split three ways: Grasim Industries (promoter) will receive Rs. 2,880 crore worth of shares, Suryaja Investments Pte. Ltd. (Aditya Birla Group entity) will receive Rs. 200 crore, and International Finance Corporation (IFC) will receive Rs. 920 crore. Post-allotment, Grasim's stake will increase from 52.27% to 53.08%, while IFC will hold 0.95% and Suryaja will hold 0.21% of the company. The issue is subject to shareholder approval at an EGM on June 12, 2026. The proceeds will be used to augment capital base, fund lending business growth, and for general corporate purposes.
The capital raise will strengthen ABCL's balance sheet and support its lending and financial services growth. The entry of IFC, a multilateral development institution, adds institutional credibility. Promoter stake increase signals strong promoter confidence, though it triggers some dilution for minority shareholders.
